IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OUR SEPTEMBER RETURN
We have enjoyed a successful 2024 so far. Highlights include
• Our Academy finished 2nd in the Emerald Cup in February
• Our Academy finished 1st place in the Irish Open in June
• Our Academy members brought home 1 Gold, 2 Silver & 2 Bronze at the Elite Worlds in Wolverhampton in July
• Our Academy members Alex Harris, Alex O'Brien, Amelia Lennon, Mason Kinsella & Mikey O’Reilly Jr represented Ireland at the 2024 IMMAF Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi in August and we are very proud to say Amelia Lennon came home with a silver medal.
None of this would have been possible without every Academy team members participation across the BJJ, MMA & Wrestling classes.
A big part of the ethos of our club and the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is that we are always on a journey of continuous improvement.
In that spirit, we are making changes to how we deliver the classes and coaching, which you need to be aware of.
A key discipline in martial arts is timekeeping. To ensure this happens, we are moving our sign in’s to Martialytics online to guarantee every coach and Academy member are ready to take the bow and start class on time.

This will mean a one touch sign in on a Tablet device when you reach reception in Donaghmede and Finglas.
We are also spending too much time collecting and chasing fees. To this end, to ensure your place on the upcoming terms we ask that you pay your fees to Jason in advance of the term.
Jason will be in Finglas on Monday 19th August & Wednesday 21st August @ 5.30pm for 1 hour only each day.
Anyone who hasn’t paid their fee and created their profile on Martialytics by Tuesday September 3rd 2024 will risk losing their place for the upcoming term.
There will also be a €30 admin fee to be paid in September. This fee will cover the following:
• Team Development days
• In-house competitions
• End of year gradings
• Admin overhead
Andy Ryan will hold a parents information day in Finglas on Wednesday September 4th to discuss the above changes and our plans for the remainder of 2024 with you all.
Elaine & Claire will schedule a parents information day in Donaghmede in due course.
SEPTEMBER RETURN
• Donaghmede returns on Monday 2nd September
• Finglas returns on Wednesday 4th September
OTHER POINTS TO NOTE
• Finglas Academy 1 will move from 1hr to 45mins classes. We feel this is enough time to deliver a meaningful class and maintain the kids level of attention
• The teens group will now grade with the adult section
• MMA classes return on Tuesday 10th September and are only available to academy members 8 years old or older
• Please take note, MMA classes are now on Tuesday’s & Thursdays
• Wrestling will return on Saturday 7th September
• Any Donaghmede Academy members who want to join the Finglas Wrestling class must be signed up to Martialytics in Donaghmede and have their fees paid
UPDATED CLASS TIMETABLES ARE AVAILABLE HERE
• There is no swapping between Finglas and Donaghmede gyms unless it’s competition training, or you are a member of the Ireland IMMAF squad and you must have the coach’s permission
COMPETITIONS
Competition classes will be made available on an invitation basis only, to anyone registered to compete. These classes will be held on Tuesdays at 7pm in Finglas and Friday 6pm in Donaghmede. They will commence around 6 weeks ahead of any major tournament.
We will be encouraging the experienced Academy Members to enter the Dublin Open which is takes place on the weekend of December 7th/8th
We don’t want to put anyone under pressure to compete. We want all our Academy members to enjoy their sport. However, please note the following competitions are scheduled should your child wish to compete
